On Saturday evening, Deputy Robert Swartz was involved in an off-duty motorcycle crash. Robert and his girlfriend were riding in his lane when a car entered his lane and struck his motorcycle almost head-on. Among his injuries, Robert has two broken legs and is in a lot of pain. His girlfriend was also injured in the crash and is at Mercy Hospital. Robert faces several surgeries and a long recovery. He has been told it may be four months until his legs are healed enough to begin walking again. He is in Presbyterian Hospital, room 503.Robert is currently assigned to the Juvenile Bureau for court security. Robert needs our help. Robert has just over one month leave after which time he will lose his income. If you can donate leave, please contact the Sheriff’s Office Personnel Office x1093 or x2040. In addition, the FOP is planning some fund raisers to help with out-of-pocket expenses Robert will have during this time. If you want to donate financially, contact FOP President Larry Grant x1068.
